Who is this Chip-front-tooth-guy?
Jeff Kuhnie was born in Michigan, but has been calling Chicago home for over 20 years now.
He is a graduate from Columbia College Chicago, where he studied design, painting, illustration, as well as film and writing. Jeff studied under Mario Castillo, renowned Painter and Muralist.
Working as a freelance artist, He gained the attention of advertising companies, like Producers Color Services based in Detroit Michigan, where he worked on campaigns for Jeep, Chrysler, Courvoisier, and US Cellular to name a few.
Jeff has creating illustrations and design for television and film, working for The History Channel as well as visual effects for a recent Metallica video. He has worked for Pipeworks Brewing Co. during those "Craft-beer-Bubble" years, creating dozens of their infamous Labels. Other projects include creating artwork, package design, merchandice, logos and branding for companies such as Dark Matter Coffee, 18th Street Brewing, Three Floyds Brewing, Octopi Brewing, Growler Cafe, 8Bit Chocolate, Woodward Fine Cannabis Co., and Into the Feral.
Currently Jeff is busy promoting Godfly, his illustrative masterpiece, written by Ryan Oliver. The book was published by Blind Cylcops Books and sold out the first printing within months. The horror graphic novel has received reviewers praise from Bloodydisgusting.com as well as a published review in RueMorgue Magazine November/December issue.
Jeff is heavily influenced by comics and cartoons. Growing up mimicking Jack Kirby, and studying the pages of “How to draw the Marvel Way”, Mad and Cracked Magazine. There is always that half written story with those almost finished comic pages, sketched out somewhere in his studio. You can’t help but notice the tattoo influence in line work, as well as his life choices, and subject matter. sketch books full of snakes and skulls.
